Blog #7 - ‘From Samarkand with Love’

In the photo: me - on the field of the countryside of Samarkand when we walked often with my dad (1985, Samarkand)

I once counted how many hours I spent creating each thing, and I realized: "Yes, I am from Samarkand, and I don't want to change."

For me, It is important to share the beauty and richness of the culture that created me. I make  my garments with love and respect. Each shred, each felt fiber I hold in my hands and process by hand, so that the ancient patterns of my land can be adapted to the present and given a new life.

I think that all this allowed me to grow up kind, appreciating people's work, with a love for natural fabrics and textile art.

My eyes were gradually opening to the world, to art. Someone - I can’t quite remember who - once - told me: "Love art, take care of the work of masters, look how beautiful the art is, you need to appreciate it." This itself was sewn into my consciosness without any long, tedious moralizing and lectures.
